Etymology
The word builds on σκατό/σκατά, the ordinary Greek word for excrement, which goes back to Ancient Greek σκῶρ, genitive σκατός. The masculine suffix -άς is added to turn the noun into a label for a person, in this case someone characterized by being "shit": worthless, contemptible, or bad at something. The result is a common vulgar insult in everyday spoken Greek.
