Etymology
Romanian "gazdă" was borrowed from Hungarian "gazda", which means farmer, master of the house, or host. The loan entered through centuries of contact in Transylvania and the border regions, where Hungarian administrative and rural vocabulary passed into Romanian. It is not an inherited Latin word, so it has no Proto-Indo-European root of its own within Romanian.
