Etymology
Imobiliar entered Romanian in the nineteenth century from French immobilier, part of a wave of French borrowings during the modernization of Romanian vocabulary. French immobilier derives from immobile, from Latin immobilis: the negative prefix in- attached to mobilis, movable. Mobilis itself comes from the verb movere, to move.
