Etymology
Romanian borrowed the verb a plictisi, "to bore, to get bored", from Greek during the Phanariote period, from πλήξη (plixi), "boredom", itself linked to ancient Greek πλήσσω (plēssō), "to strike". Romanian then added the agent suffix -tor, from Latin -tor, to the verb stem to build plictisitor, literally "that which causes boredom". The result is a hybrid word: a Greek-derived root fitted with a Latin-derived ending, typical of Romanian's mixed vocabulary.
