Word family
Etymology
The verb comes from the Semitic triconsonantal root غ-ض-ب (gh-ḍ-b), which carries the sense of anger. The base Form I verb غَضِبَ means to become angry. The Form IV pattern ʾafʿala adds a hamza prefix and turns the state into a causative: to make someone become angry.
