Etymology
تائِه is the active participle of the hollow verb تاه, يتيه (to wander, to lose one's way, to be lost). The root is Semitic, built on the consonants ت-ي-ه, and the same root also gives تيه, the classical word for both bewilderment and haughty pride. It is not an Indo-European word, so it has no PIE ancestor.
