Etymology

Tajhīz is the maṣdar, or verbal noun, of the Form II verb jahhaza, meaning to prepare or equip something with what it needs. Both trace to the triliteral Semitic root j-h-z, which carries the core sense of readiness and outfitting. Arabic is a Semitic language, not an Indo-European one, so it has no Proto-Indo-European root.
