Etymology
The word comes from the Semitic root د-خ-ل (d-kh-l), which carries the core sense of entering or going inside. Arabic builds تَدَخَّل on Form V (تَفَعَّلَ), a pattern that often marks a reflexive or self-directed action based on Form II (causing to enter, inserting). So تَدَخَّل literally means to insert oneself into something, and by extension, to intervene or interfere.
