Etymology
سَئِم comes from the triliteral Semitic root س-أ-م (s-ʔ-m), which carries the sense of weariness or aversion built up from too much exposure to something. The root is native to Arabic and appears across the Form I verb, its verbal nouns, and related adjectives. It is not connected to Indo-European vocabulary, so no PIE root applies.
