Etymology
فخامة comes from the Semitic root ف خ م (f-kh-m), which carries the sense of bulk, weight, and greatness. The verb فَخُمَ means to be massive or grand, and فخامة is its abstract noun, meaning grandeur or majesty. The word later became a fixed honorific, صاحب الفخامة, used for heads of state in several Arab republics.
