Etymology
مُحِقّ comes from the triliteral root ح-ق-ق, which carries the idea of truth, right, and what is established as true. It is the Form IV active participle, literally 'one who holds the truth' or 'one in the right.' The same root gives حَقّ (ḥaqq), 'truth' or 'right,' and حَقيقة (ḥaqīqa), 'reality.' The root has a Hebrew cognate in ḥ-q-q, 'to engrave, decree,' source of ḥoq, 'statute.'
