Etymology
Γοητευτικός comes from the verb γοητεύω, meaning to charm or enchant. That verb traces back to the noun γόης, an ancient term for a sorcerer who cast spells through chanting. The suffix -τικός marks capability, so the word originally suggested the power to bewitch. Over centuries the magical sense faded into the ordinary meaning of charming or captivating, much as English enchanting lost its literal link to witchcraft.
