Etymology

Επαναφέρω combines two prefixes with the verb φέρω, to carry or bring. Επί adds the sense of upon or again, and ανά adds the sense of back or up. Together they form a verb meaning to carry something back to its former state. Φέρω descends from a very old Indo-European root for carrying, shared across many languages.
