Etymology
Κουνηθείτε is the second-person plural passive imperative of κουνώ/κουνιέμαι, meaning to move or shake oneself. Κουνώ developed in Medieval Greek from the ancient verb κινέω, to move, through a common vernacular sound shift from κιν- to κουν-. The passive stem κουνηθ- takes the standard aorist passive imperative ending -είτε for the plural.
