Etymology
Τροχαίος derives from τροχός, the Greek word for wheel, joined with the adjective-forming suffix -αιος. Τροχός itself comes from the same root as τρέχω, to run, since a wheel is what turns and runs. Over time the adjective narrowed in modern usage to describe anything connected with wheeled traffic, especially accidents and traffic policing.
