Etymology
Romanian "cor" comes from French "chœur", reinforced by the learned Latin "chorus". Both trace back to Ancient Greek χορός (khoros), which meant a band of dancers and singers performing together, and later the song or dance itself. The word entered Romanian during the nineteenth century alongside French-influenced vocabulary for music and the arts.
