Etymology
Dăm is the first person plural present form of a da, meaning to give. The verb descends from Latin dare, which itself continues the Proto-Indo-European root for giving. This makes a da one of the oldest and most irregular verbs in Romanian, keeping a short monosyllabic stem across most of its forms.
