Etymology

Romanian borrowed "job" directly from English in the late twentieth century, as Western business and IT terms entered the language after 1989. It filled a gap next to the older, more formal Romanian words for work, giving speakers a casual synonym. The word kept its English spelling and pronunciation, and Romanian grammar simply added its own plural ending to make it behave like a native noun.
