Etymology
Mijloc descends from Vulgar Latin, formed from medius, meaning middle, and locus, meaning place. The compound originally meant middle place, and Romanian kept both the spatial sense and extended it to mean the instrument or method used to reach a goal. This double sense, middle and means, survives intact in modern usage.
