Etymology
Perspectivă entered Romanian in the nineteenth century from French perspective, part of a wave of French and Italian loanwords that modernized Romanian vocabulary. The French word goes back to Latin perspectiva, short for ars perspectiva, the art of seeing through and rendering depth in painting. Latin perspectiva comes from perspectus, the past participle of perspicere, to look through or see clearly, built from per, through, and specere, to look.
