Etymology

Vedeți descends from Latin videtis, the second person plural present indicative of videre, "to see." Regular sound change turned the Latin ending -etis into Romanian -eți, with the t palatalizing before the following i. The verb a vedea remained one of the most stable and frequent verbs in Romanian across a millennium of change.
