Etymology
أَغْلَقَ is the Form IV verb from the Arabic triconsonantal root غ-ل-ق (gh-l-q), which carries the idea of shutting or fastening. The same root gives غَلَق, a bolt or lock, and مُغْلَق, meaning closed. The Form IV pattern adds an initial hamza that marks a transitive, causative sense: to bring something into a closed state.
