Etymology
أَعادَ is the Form IV (causative) verb from the Semitic root ع-و-د, which carries the idea of returning and recurring. Form I عادَ means to come back; the Form IV prefix makes it transitive, so أَعادَ means to bring something back or to do it again. The same root gives عادَة (habit), عيد (festival, a recurring occasion), and إِعادَة (repetition).
