Etymology
إِنَّ is an inherited Semitic asseverative/presentative particle used to affirm and emphasize a following nominal clause; it is not derived from a triliteral verbal root. It belongs to a family of Semitic deictic particles expressing “behold / indeed.” In classical grammar it heads the “sisters of inna” (أخوات إنّ), which put their subject in the accusative.
