Etymology

تَدَخُّل is the verbal noun of the Form V verb تَدَخَّلَ, 'to interfere or intervene.' Both derive from the triconsonantal root د-خ-ل, 'to enter.' Form V adds a ta- prefix and doubles the middle consonant, producing the sense of entering into a matter that is not one's own. The word is Semitic and has no Indo-European root.
