Etymology
تَكْرار is the verbal noun (masdar) of the Form II verb كَرَّر, meaning to repeat or reiterate. Both trace back to the triliteral root ك ر ر, whose base sense is to return or go back over something. Doubling the middle radical in كَرَّر intensifies that sense into doing something again and again, and the تَفْعال pattern turns the action into the abstract noun تَكْرار.
