Etymology
تَنْبِيه comes from the Arabic root ن-ب-ه (n-b-h), which carries the sense of being alert or aware. It is the verbal noun (masdar) of the Form II verb نَبَّهَ, meaning to alert, wake, or draw someone's attention. Form II in Arabic often makes a root causative, so نَبَّهَ means to cause someone to become alert, and تَنْبِيه is the noun for that act. As a Semitic root, it has no Indo-European origin.
