Etymology
Wahm comes from the Arabic triliteral root w-h-m (و-ه-م), which carries the sense of a mind forming a false or unfounded belief. The noun follows the fa'l pattern, a common shape for verbal nouns in Arabic, and names the false impression that results from the underlying verb wahima, to be under a mistaken impression. Arabic is a Semitic language, not Indo-European, so it has no Proto-Indo-European root.
