Etymology
The verb comes from the Arabic triliteral root و-ج-ه (w-j-h), which carries the sense of face. Its base noun وَجْه means face. The Form V pattern تَفَعَّل adds a reflexive shade, so the verb reads as turning one's own face in a direction. From there it took the everyday meaning of heading somewhere.
