Etymology

رَمَى comes from the common Semitic root r-m-y, meaning to throw or cast. The same root gives Hebrew רָמָה, used in the Song of the Sea for hurling horse and rider into the water, and Aramaic rəmā, to throw or place. The sense runs from physical throwing to the figurative act of casting an accusation. It has no Indo-European source.
