Etymology
سارّ is the active participle of the verb سَرَّ, meaning to please or to gladden, from the triliteral root س-ر-ر. The root clusters around joy and inner feeling, giving سُرور, joy, and مَسَرّة, delight. The same consonants also yield سِرّ, secret, linked by the idea of what is held within. Arabic is a Semitic language, so it has no Proto-Indo-European root.
