Etymology
كُلّ derives from the Common Semitic root k-l-l, denoting totality and completeness. It is cognate with Hebrew כֹּל (kol) and Aramaic kol, both meaning 'all'. The same geminate root also yields the notion of encircling and crowning (إِكْليل 'crown'), reflecting the underlying idea of a complete, encompassing whole.
