لَدَى is an ancient Semitic locative word expressing proximity, presence, and possession, nearly synonymous with عِنْد and the variant لَدُن. It is indeclinable (mabni); its final long alif shifts to yāʾ before pronominal suffixes, giving لَدَيَّ، لَدَيْكَ، لَدَيْهِ. As a Semitic item it has no Indo-European ancestry.
