Etymology

مُتَّحِد is the Form VIII active participle of the verb اِتَّحَدَ, to unite or become one. It is built on the Semitic root و-ح-د, the same root behind واحِد, one, and وَحْدَة, unity. In Form VIII the added infix -t- assimilates with the root's initial و and produces the doubled تّ. The word names the state of having joined into one.
