Etymology
نِهاية comes from the triconsonantal root ن-ه-ي, which carries the sense of reaching a limit or coming to a stop. The same root gives the verb اِنْتَهى, to come to an end, and the adjective نِهائيّ, final. The word follows the fiʿāla pattern that often forms abstract nouns. Arabic is a Semitic language, so it has no Proto-Indo-European root.
