Etymology
Εξωτερικά is the adverb form of the adjective εξωτερικός, which builds on έξω, meaning outside. Greek added the comparative-type suffix -τερος and the adjectival ending -ικός, then the adverbial -ά to get the current word. The pattern mirrors Latin exterior and external, which also grew from a root meaning out plus a comparative suffix.
