Etymology

Βολεύω is a colloquial Modern Greek verb built on the root of βάλλω, 'to throw'. The related noun βολή means a throw or a cast, as when casting a net or a shot. From this image of placing something in the right spot, Greek formed the adjective εύβολος, 'well-placed, convenient', and later the verb βολεύω, 'to suit, to be convenient'. The sense stayed close to everyday, spoken use rather than formal writing.
