Επιδρομή comes from the ancient verb επιδραμείν, the aorist infinitive of επιτρέχω, itself built from the prefix επί (upon, against) and τρέχω (to run). The word literally described the act of running upon a place or people, and it settled into Greek as the standard term for a raid or sudden attack. The root behind τρέχω/δραμείν has no securely established origin outside Greek, so no Indo-European ancestor is given here.
