Etymology
Θα comes from the medieval Greek phrase θέλει να, meaning "it wants that," which was used to express intention or future action. Over centuries the phrase wore down through θενά to the single syllable θα. It is now a fixed grammatical particle rather than a verb form, and Greeks no longer feel any link to θέλω (to want) when they use it.
