Etymology
Κοράκι is a diminutive of the older, more formal κόρακας, which comes from Ancient Greek κόραξ. The word is thought to be imitative in origin, echoing the bird's harsh call. Despite the diminutive form, in everyday Modern Greek κοράκι is simply the normal word for the bird, not a small version of one.
