Etymology
Ρουτίνα is a direct borrowing from French routine, which Greek adapted with a native feminine ending. French routine itself grew out of route, meaning road or way, plus a suffix marking a fixed manner of doing something. Route in turn traces back to Latin rupta (via), literally a broken or cleared path, from the verb rumpere, to break.
