Etymology
Borrowed into Modern Greek from Italian «moda» (and reinforced by French «mode»), meaning 'fashion, manner'. The Romance word descends from Latin «modus» 'measure, manner, way'. Latin «modus» in turn goes back to a Proto-Indo-European root meaning 'to measure'.
