Etymology
Πατρικός comes from πατήρ, πατρός, the Greek word for father, joined with the adjective-forming suffix -ικός, meaning "pertaining to." The word has been used since ancient Greek to mean "of or belonging to one's father." It later extended to cover ancestral property and, by metaphor, a caring or authoritative manner like that of a father.
