Etymology
The verb entered Greek as a loan from Italian rischiare, part of a wave of Italian-derived verbs that entered the language through trade and contact in the Mediterranean. Greek adapted it with the common productive suffix -άρω, used to turn foreign verb stems into regular Greek verbs. The root itself traces back to the noun risk, whose deeper origin is disputed and not settled enough to state as fact.
