Etymology
Σούπερ entered Modern Greek in the twentieth century as a direct borrowing of the English word super, used unchanged and without inflection. English super in turn goes back to Latin super, the preposition and prefix meaning above or over. That Latin word descends from the same Proto-Indo-European root as Ancient Greek ὑπέρ, so the borrowing effectively brought an old relative of a native Greek word back into the language through a foreign detour.
