The suffix -ενάδα is a colloquial feminine ending, and the ultimate origin of φίλος itself is not settled among linguists. Ancient and Koine Greek used φίλη for a female friend; φιλενάδα is a later, informal coinage that gradually took on the added sense of romantic girlfriend.
