Etymology
The word comes from the verb încărca, meaning to load, joined with the noun-forming suffix -tură. Încărca itself descends from Latin incarricare, built from in- and carricare, to put on a cart. The Latin root carrus, cart, was itself borrowed from Gaulish, so the word's deepest roots are Celtic rather than pure Latin.
