Etymology
Avertiza was formed in Romanian from the root avert-, drawn from French avertir, combined with the productive verb-forming suffix -iza. That suffix, common in Romanian neologisms, traces back through French -iser to Greek -izein. The French avertir itself descends from Latin advertere, a compound of ad- (toward) and vertere (to turn).
