Etymology
Romanian "a ceda" entered the language in the 19th century as part of the deliberate relatinization of Romanian vocabulary, borrowed chiefly through French "céder". Both trace back to Latin "cedere", meaning to go, withdraw, or yield. The same Latin root also gave Romanian its words for concession and precedent.
