Etymology

Decizie entered Romanian in the nineteenth century from French décision, part of a wave of French borrowings that reshaped Romanian vocabulary. The French word itself comes from Latin decisio, decisionis, a noun built on decidere, meaning to cut off or settle. That verb joins the prefix de- (off, away) to caedere, to cut or strike.
